Our Story
Hi! I'm Joe Skoff. I'm an English teacher, a storyteller, and someone who absolutely loves games.
The world is getting absolutely insane-bonkers. More than ever, we need time to be around each other, laughing, playing, and talking.
That's what Hiccup Games is all about.
I started Hiccup Games to make the kinds of games I love playing: fast-paced, mischievous, easy to learn, and full of unexpected moments. Games that get people laughing, arguing (the fun kind of course), and forgetting about their phones for a while.
My love of games extends beyond the tabletop, too. I also run Plot Twist Ink, a creative education company that's gamifying the writing process to help kids fall in love with storytelling while becoming great writers. Whether I'm creating a writing adventure for students or a ridiculous card game for friends, the goal is similar: make something people genuinely want to participate in.
I believe we need more spaces where people can come together. More reasons to gather in person. More opportunities to be silly, creative, competitive, and completely present with one another.
If a Hiccup game gets a room full of people laughing so hard they can't finish a sentence, then I think we've done our job.
Good Games. Bad Manners.
